Our awesome Portland area just opened up the Green Line Max train route on Saturday and they were having all kinds of celebrations to kick off the "Green Means Go" event. We were up for a day of fun, free rides, and all the extras that the city had planned for us to enjoy. The weather was in the 90's and we saw this as the last chance for a family adventure this summer...

How great is this fountain? Oh...to be a kid again! It's in downtown Portland, and I have always wanted to take Evan here. Today seemed like the perfect day and he loved it. There were little pools up top and great big waterfalls to stand under...or stand near if you didn't want to get under it.

After the ride back to our mall, which is where the green line starts/ends, Evan got to try his hand (and feet) and rock wall climbing! This turned out to be the he liked second to riding the train! There's a huge rock at his school like this and he will have a chance to do this daily, minus the gear!

We could pretend he was 10 feet off the ground, but it was more like 2! It's progress. The last time he had the opportunity to try this he passed on it. Now he was game!

How cute is this? A train shop had a huge layout on display in the mall parking lot during the big celebration...and look what one of the guys made...a Max train! How cute is that! It looked to be the same size as Evan's trains and the guy said he 'd made it himself. His wife had done the graphics and he had built them. There had been MANY requests that came from this big day and they are considering making them for purchase, but at a price. Evan thought the little Amtrak was pretty neat too.
Fun day, fun stuff, great weather. Loved it.
