During the holidays when I was little, I loved when Mom asked me to be, "Mommy's little helper." I knew that mean I got to chop the walnuts for her cookies that she made every year. Put the nuts in, crank and watch them get chopped up and fall to the bottom. I loved helping. This year my guy is "Mommy's little helper." Chop the nuts, stir the chocolate, unwrap the butter, toss the butter in the pan...We did it over and over. Evan was a huge help when I made the toffee.
This is my Aunt Kathy's recipe and is now a much requested favorite among all my friends. I have shared the recipe over and over again and know it by heart. Since my 9th annual Cookie Exchange is Saturday, I had to make plenty.
