The Oregon City Relay for Life 2009

This past weekend was the Relay for Life. We spent a good deal of time over at the college across the street. Mark was a part of the opening ceremony and walked as a SURVIVOR of the skin cancer he had on his face a few years ago. SURVIVORS wore purple shirts and made their way around the track to kick off the day. Mark stayed for the SURVIVOR breakfast while I got the boys (yes, Evan's friend Pierce too) ready for the kids' parade.

The weather was about 20 degrees cooler than last year which was a huge relief! The 80's were warm but it was better than last year!
My favorite part is the evening when they do the Luminaria. Candles are lit and the bags line the entire track. Pictures never do it justice. There is great peace, hope and sadness as you walk the track, at night, and read the messages others have left.
