Memorial Day weekend

Over Memorial Day weekend, we ventured down to Newburg for the hydroplance races. The weather held out for us and we spent the afternoon watching these amazing boats make their way down the Willamette River.

Before the races began...guess who got lucky?! Yup, Evan. He was admiring this red tunnel boat when the owner walked up and did the very thing you'd hope he do. He asked Evan if he would like to get in...
These boats were amazing to watch, and it was watching them turn corners that made me laugh in amazement every single time. They never lost momentum, never got caught in the waves, it was just as if this little boat could escape all of the things that would normally slow down a vehicle making sharp turns. The announcer said that even a motorcycle can turn the way these boats can. So cool.
