Harold and the Purple Crayon

There are moments when my soon to be 7 year old seems so big. There are other moments though, that I am reminded that he is still little. He asked me on this day, "Mom, will you pull me around the neighborhood in the wagon?" This wagon, the one that his Papa gave him when her turned one, now held my boy with his box of chalk and book of poetry by Shel Silverstein. As I left the driveway I saw Evan reach for a stick of chalk and then he leaved over the right side and let it drag on the ground, and when we crossed the street, so did the line of blue chalk. And so we went, around the neighborhood, me and my boy Harold, and his purple crayon.
