Playdate with Stella

This week lots of kids were out sick and so Mrs. Rae allowed the kids to pick their own 'special friend' to play with. Usually she assigns them a buddy that they must plan to do something with that day, but on that particular day, she allowed them to pick their own... Later that day Mrs. Rae told me of this and then added..."Everyone wanted to be special friends with Evan Ross. They were fighting over him!" Hey, it's a good thing when everyone wants to play with your kid!

I've planned play dates for Evan to get to know kids from his class one on one here at our house and have also planned outtings where all of the class is invited. It's been a great way for him to connect with many different kids, boys and girls.

Today it was Stella's turn to come over! Stella was especially excited because she got to ride Evan's bus and it was her first bus ride ever! She lives a mile from school so her mom always takes her. The bus was a big deal.

It was nice to have a friend over that likes to play outside like Evan does. It was beautiful out today. Sunny and mild. Evan was happy to show off the stream behind the house...

Like true Springwater kids...have boots...will travel.

Stella lives on a Christmas tree farm and said she doesn't have trees like this one to climb. It took her no time at all to master climbing it. Here she is, up a tree like a monkey, all by herself! She also tried her hand at Evan's scooter. Since she lives on dirt and gravel road, she hasn't had a chance to do that sort of thing very much.
Then we rode bikes over to the duck pond...yes, I know that's not a duck. But does he know he's not a duck? (This was the first time we've seen this 'duck', ...not sure where he came from.) He had made a friend...one duck was always by his side and was just out of this picture.
